Zero Waste Home:

Conception - This is your dwelling. Your safe zone. Your escape. How can it interconnect with everything around you? A living, breathing entity that you love.

Transition Starting Point - Use up everything you have that you want to transition to zero waste. Don't throw it away. If you want, recycle, give away and donate. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose. I am about 4 months into my journey and i m still using up products and slowly transitioning. I have found items that are 'hard' to transition (aka hair products)

Over Time - Take the time to research what you economically, almost easily and stress free transition things in your home. Take into consideration all of the members in your family. Their habits, needs and wants. Baby steps to help the transition.....

Ideas, Notes, Types, Things to Consider -

#1 There are infinite resources on the internet.

#2 What can you apply to your home that makes the most sense?

#3 Take 21 days to transition the hard stuff

#4 Research what is the best way to do whatever in your area. You may have to contact your local government, organizations or just get out there and start doing it.

First Items That Can Be Transitioned to Zero Waste:

#1 Mouth Wash - Pretty simple ingredients.

Tea Tree Oil

Peppermint

Baking Soda

Water

Mason Jar

Only need small amounts; use a small mason jar and make it every Monday. Look for these things in bulk or recyclable containers.

#2 Plastic Ware - Recommendation: Clean Planetware 4 Layer Stainless Steel Lunch Box

Replacements -

Mason Jars (For everything): Visit local budget stores and peruse for large and small mason jars. Ask friends for donations. If you need purchase items, think about the post use as your new plasticware.

Tiffins (Lunch) - There are plenty of websites out there with a variety of kinds to choose from. Size, form, fit, function is dependent on your needs.

#3 Toothpaste -

Baking soda

Peppermint

Coconut oil

Barcarbonate Clay

Small Mason Jar

Use a spoon to put it on your toothbrush to not transfer bacteria.

#4 Scrubs -

Brown Sugar

Coconut oil

Lavender oil or your essential oil

Small Mason Jar

Mix, shake and put into a small container

#5 Laundry Items -

Wool Dryer Balls and Lavender or another essential oil -

Wool Yarn

Time

Essential Oils

Roll wool yarn into tight balls and wash/dry a few times to tighten up. For your drying cycle, put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the ball and throw them into your dryer.

Fresh dryer sheets -

Old t shirt

Vinegar

Tea tree oil

Store in seal tight container.

Switch to metal or bamboo

#7 Shaving -Williams Mug Shaving Soap, 3 Count

#8 Compost Top Rated Epica Stainless Steel Compost Bin 1.3 Gallon-Includes Charcoal Filter-

There are non-smelly compost bins available with charcoal filters. There are a few perfect for small dwellings with larger turnstile composters for backyards. Visit your local garden centers for start soil and/or worms. Even ask within your community for soils and starter materials.
