Information Overload. We hear about it all the time. From the internet to social media to everything needs to be known at all times about everything.
Often, this overload decreases our productivity.
What if we attempted to remove these distractions, one by one, step by step. Gradually or with testing to see what else may take the place of that information or what may be discovered as result?
Humans needs to be productive...to avoid stagnation, addiction, the feeling of being lost in this world.
Being productive means something different for each humans. Productivity can be related to goals, milestones, feelings, time, money, love, family....the possibilities are infinite and unique.
What if we instead of overloading ourselves with information, we focused on the the other things instead. Information overload has become the norm, the sought after, the test of ones' self worth.
Take 30 minutes and:
Go the beach, nature, park, backyard
Play quiet music
Remove ourselves to an unfamiliar scene
Set a timer for 30 minutes of no social media/information download
Popped into a coffee shop to meet strangers
Dug in the backyard with our kids or animals
Took a walk, jog, bike ride
How can these activities remove the information overload and increase productivity? By creating space. Just like on your phone, remove data so new data can be seen.
Distractions will always be there; we can choose what those are and how we react to them.
We live in an age of advancing technology. This technology can help us with productivity as long as we manage our use of it. Alerts and notifications can cause stressors or the feeling of FOMO (Feeling of Missing Out).
Organic connections with other humans enhance our experiences. Productivity in friendships and relationships will increase with no distractions; why do you need your phone on the table or to be looking at it? If you would rather be looking at that inorganic device, does that mean the human or activity that you are doing really truly, deeply doesnt matter to you?
Small humans depend on bigger humans for life. These small beings are chosen to be in this life, so a mutual respect of time, energy and effort is needed.
Can we balance our needs?
Can we balance the internal desire for productivity?
How can you modify your day to remove distractions and make room for more?
These thoughts can be applied to virtually anything....from saving the world, to humans, to relationships, to jobs and everything in between.
How can we help today?
